Seems everyone else has their predictions for 2006 Playoff berthing posted. I'm going to try to stay unbiased about this, as there are a few teams I'd like to see hit the top (one of them I'm sure we all know).

1 - San Antonio
2 - Houston
3 - Phoenix
4 - Dallas
5 - Denver
6 - Seattle
7 - Golden State
8 - Sacramento
9 - Minnesota
10 - Memphis
11 - L.A. Clippers
12 - L.A. Lakers
13 - Portland
14 - New Orleans
15 - Utah

1 - Miami
2 - Chicago
3 - Detroit
4 - New Jersey
5 - Indiana
6 - Boston
7 - Cleveland
8 - Washington
9 - Philadelphia
10 - New York
11 - Milwaukee
12 - Orlando
13 - Toronto
14 - Charlotte
15 - Atlanta

Just how I see it at this point. Golden State may be a bit premature, Indiana or New Jersey might be higher up, Chicago might find that funk again, and Cleveland could be the worst team in the league. But these are just my predictions. I'm just tasting Western Conference Finals for the Rockets, though. Don't want to jinx it.

On Friday, August 26th, the Houston Rockets announced that they have re-signed center Dikembe Mutombo to a multi-year contract. As a member of the Rockets last season, Mutombo contributed 4.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest, while also providing a stable interior defensive presence and a solid ambassador for the community.

Breaking news from the FOX 26 sports team, they just spoke to the veteran center Dikembe Mutombo saying that he is going to re-sigh with the Rockets. Although the terms aren't known, the plans are for a 2 year deal. More info as it becomes avaiable.

Clutch trying to move 'forward'... [Jul. 12th, 2005|05:04 pm]

So, the Rockets' most lacking position right now appears to be the power forward. Juwon Howard is good and all, but injuries and lack of a proper reserve leave something to be desired at the spot.

Houston seems to be courting three forwards as of late to try and curb this issue:

  • Memphis' Stromile Swift (he's looking for a winner right now)

  • L.A. Clippers' Bobby Simmons (quite improved, but he seems a little content in L.A.)

  • Boston's Antoine Walker (the biggest surprise)

While Simmons would help, and Swift would be a great addition, Walker seems to be shopping around for a contender right now. His agent, Mark Bartelstein, seems to think he can find that in Houston. While one of the other two would probably be picked up mid-level, a sign-and-trade seems the most likely course of action is the Rockets wanted to take on 'Toine. I'm not even sure he'd be that nice a fit for Van Gundy. Then again, he did work and help mold McGrady this last season, so I guess it can be done.

"We talked in the middle of the night about Antoine," Bartelstein told the Houston Chronicle. "They could do a sign-and-trade. But I will say this, the Rockets are a great organization. They have a lot of great pieces. He sees Houston as a terrific young team with two great players. Antoine sees them as a championship-contending team, and he is looking for a chance to contend for championships."

Spurs-tastic! [Jun. 24th, 2005|02:08 am]

How about that?

Third time in seven years.

Won on their home court.

T.D. with his third Finals MVP trophy in as many Finals series.

The San Antonio Spurs are once again the world champions.

On a seperate note, here's hoping Larry Brown can return next year. I have never loved that man more than I do tonight. Congratulations to Detroit for an awe inspiring run.
